SALSA to be Reintroduced Soon
Bipartisan sponsors of the Saving Access to Laboratory Services Act (SALSA) are preparing for reintroduction of the legislation as soon as next week. Following the enactment of the one-year delay in reimbursement cuts and data reporting as included in the Consolidated Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2023, NILA continues to prioritize a permanent fix to the flawed implementation of the Protecting Access to Medicare Act (PAMA), which would be achieved by SALSA. Senators Sherrod Brown (D-OH) and Thom Tillis (R-NC) along with Representatives Gus Bilirakis (R-FL), Richard Hudson (R-NC), Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), Scott Peters (D-CA) and Bill Pascrell (D-NJ) plan to reintroduce the bill before the end of March 2023.
NILA is working closely with these SALSA champions to support their efforts. We will provide regular updates about the status of SALSA’s reintroduction along with opportunities for NILA members to contact their elected officials in support of the legislation. We encourage all NILA members to advocate for House and Senate co-sponsorship of SALSA.
